Friends of the Bodleian
The Friends of the Bodleian enriches the Library's collections by encouraging donations and by providing an income for the purchase of manuscripts and printed books, supplementary to the amount allocated by the Library from its own funds.
The Friends have enabled the Library to acquire research material in the whole range of subjects represented in the Library, particularly items and collections which the Library would not otherwise be able to afford.

Stationers' Hall, Archive Evening. Monday 12 April
A joint event with music and verse celebrating the 400th Anniversary of the Agreement between the Stationers' Company and the Bodleian Library will take place at Stationers' Hall, London, on Monday 12 April, 6pm to 9pm.
In 1610 the Stationers' Company agreed to send the Bodleian Library, in perpetuity, a copy of every book printed by its members. This important agreement was the forerunner of Legal Deposit and contributed to the development of copyright. It resulted in the Bodleian acquiring some of the most important printed books in the English language.
This event is open to members of the Friends of the Bodleian, the Stationers' Company, and their guests. Full event details and a booking form can be downloaded here. Places for this event can be booked using the booking form or by credit card via the Stationers' Company website.
Please note this event is limited to 150 guests and tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis so please book early to avoid disappointment. The deadline for ticket applications in 6 April 2010.
